Sex:: Female Year of Birth: 1982 Pets: 1 adorable cat. ^_^ How I got into Skinning: I first started playing the Sims in September 2000. I wanted to make families based on my favorite video game and anime characters, but the game didn't have any heads and clothes that looked anything like those characters. I went to TheSims.com and found out that people like you and I can create our own skins for the game. This intrigued me. The first place I found with a huge collection of skins that other people made was The Sims Resource (TSR) Seeing all the different skins there got me hooked, and I started searching all over the web for more. A few days later I came upon a site called The Skindex. I was amazed by all the cool comic, anime, and sci-fi skins there and I thought, “Hey, maybe I can do this too…”. In October, I started modifying Maxis bitmaps to teach myself where and how to place things since I had no experience working with skinning and I'm not much of a tutorial person. In mid-November, after I felt secure making modifications to Maxis bitmaps, I decided to try and make a Trunks (for my younger sister 'Evil') and a Kiyone skin. After working for several days, the outfits turned out fairly nice (considering they were the first two skins that I ever made), but the heads, well, that was another story… Seeing that Evil was really happy being able to walk around the game with a Trunks, I thought that I would be nice and share with the community of The Sims Resource, so that others could would be able to enjoy him. After I submitted it, I felt wonderful, on top of the world. I decided to look at their forums since I never checked them out before. In a thread about Gundam Wing skins I saw that there was a site called Jade Eternity which was said to have a wonderful Heero Yuy skin. I checked it out and my jaw dropped, I couldn't believe how good it looked! Seeing Jade’s Heero inspired me to try my hand at making the other Gundam Wing characters. So, I posted on that thread that I would start working on Gundam Wing skins. Shortly after I posted that message, I received am e-mail from 'Duo Maxwell' saying that he was willing to help me by finding picture references and anything else that I needed. This was wonderful of him and it would save me lots of time. As time went on we started corresponding frequently and became friends. The first GW skin I started working on was Quatre, shortly followed Milliardo [OZ uniform]. The clothes looked even better than the Trunks clothes, but again, the heads didn't look right. I just couldn't capture the true essence of the character because I could find no existing head mesh that looked JUST RIGHT for the characters. I started to feel disheartened and started to wonder if I could ever make GW skins that would look anywhere near as nice as Jade's Heero. It was about this time that TSR posted my Trunks. Unfortunately, even though it was only my first skin, people wouldn't give me any slack, and lots of people rated it very poorly and some even went as for as to send me harassing e-mails saying that I sucked and I should just give it up, I'll never be a good skinner. I was devastated. Thankfully, Duo was there for me. If it wasn't for his kindness and support I would quit right then and there and would have been in a highly depressed state. Thanks to Duo's motivation I started work on Noin [Sanc kingdom uniform], Lady Une, and Treize . The clothes looked pretty good, but again the heads, well, sucked. I didn't know what to do, and I started to wonder if it was even possible for me to make Gundam Wing skins.... Luckily the answer to that problem found me. In Mid-December I received an e-mail from a mesher who was just starting out named 'Dai Maxwell'. He said that he was working on making heads for Gundam Wing characters. He showed me pictures of the Trowa and Duo heads that he made, and I couldn't believe my eyes! I was astonished that he was able to accomplish something that was out of my reach, like making Trowa's bangs stick out and Duo's braid. His ability to make such nice heads that looked very much like the characters blew my mind. We started corresponding regularly and over time became friends. It turned out that he didn’t know how to make Sims outfits, so we teamed up to make the GW characters. This was a good thing since each person's weak point, was complimented by the other's strong point, and having two people working on the characters really helped speed things up because the job, for the most part, was cut almost in half. As time went on, you could see just how well our abilities complimented each other, and the characters we made looked fabulous. They turned out just like I had hoped they would when I first started skinning the GW people. It felt wonderful. After several months of hard work, it got to the point where we decided that we needed a site for all of our skins. I tried making it, but I wasn't too good at it and working on it put a serious dent in the amount of time that I had to skin. I called up a favor on Evil because I made her Trunks skin and asked if she could make a basic site for the skins. She proved to be much better at making the site than me, and even volunteered to handle the updates regularly. The site was made, but it didn't have a name. While corresponding with Duo one day it hit me, 'Anime Sims Central'. I ran it by Dai and Evil and they both liked it. So, on February 28, 2001, Anime Sims Central was launched! It was a great feeling and I was so proud of everything we all accomplished. On March 19, 2001 ASC joined the newly formed Comic Skins Network - The Sims. We've since gone on to work on anime skins from several different animes, all of which I am very proud of. On Feb. 28, 2002, Anime Sims Central had it's first birthday! Sure there were hardships, and times when each of us was so frustrated and wanted to call it quits, but ASC has endured these trials, and I honestly hope that we all can be around to see the site's 2nd birthday. ^_^ Special Thanks: (in no particular order) Duo Maxwell - Thank you for everything that you've done for me. You've helped me find images so that I could do a better job at making the clothes. You've been my pillar of strength who helped me get through the tough times when I thought about quitting by cheering me up when I was down, being my shoulder to cry on, making me laugh and smile, and for giving me sage advice. I greatly appreciate everything that you have done for me, I never could have gotten this far without you. Dai Maxwell - Thank you for making the heads and the clothes meshes, these skins would not be possible without your wonderful creations. You are a very talented skinner, you have the ambition to make seeming impossible meshes that few others would even dare to attempt, and I can honestly say I'm jealous of your skinning abilities. It’s a pleasure working with you and knowing you. Thanks for your sound advice. Evil
